To Be Strong Is To Be Lonely

5 Dec

They always envied her strength. The way she carried on

through the death of loved ones, brushed off

heartache and loss as if it were nothing. How she was always there

for others, drowning herself in their sorrow, afraid

to go home and live with her own. How she only cried

behind closed doors. Her weakness was seen, only

when she looked in the mirror.

“You are the strongest person I know,” they would

say. Never once realizing, the amount of loneliness

that came along with it.

So powerful. Being strong is a lonely, winding road.

This, is very touching, sometimes, someone who’s strong is because s/he has to be, even though s/he has her/his own weaknesses, but, because of the expectations of the world on the person, s/he couldn’t show her/his weakness, very well written.
