About Taylor

I am a College student who is giving in to society’s demand for higher education and double majoring in Communication and English with a minor in Spanish.

I love to read and write and I think far too much.

I believe that laughing is the best medicine and that hugging really does make you live longer.

I am a Taurus (we’re the best!), so yes I am stubborn and alway speak my mind.

I am an animal lover, music lover, and lover of all things positive.

I have an absurd fascination with tattoos, wolves, astrology and weird people.

I’m a sucker for homeless people, I always give them money or food or sweaters.

I trust fortune cookies.

I give nick names to all my close friends, so if you don’t have one… I probably don’t like you that much.

Snail mail is my favorite way of communicating.

My parents are my heroes.

I am deeply and madly infatuated with my dogs. They make me so insanely happy.

I have a not so secret obsession with Jake Gyllenhaal.

I don’t believe in holding grudges, I only believe in moving on.

I believe in music and books the way most people believe in fairytales.

The only way I know how to pray is to write.

I am the most indecisive person you will ever meet.

I wish I could be a vampire. Or a wizard. Or Laura Ingalls.

I am obsessed with Joss Whedon and I think he is God’s gift to man.

My favorite movie is The Air I Breathe.

Some other favorites of mine are Dances With Wolves, Rent, Fried Green Tomatoes, Pretty Woman, Girl Interrupted, Serendipity, Hope Floats, Last of The Mohicans, Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Casa Blanca, Silver Linings Playbook, Beyond Borders, and 500 Days of Summer.

My favorite color is Green.

My favorite books are: On The Road, Harry Potter, Redeeming Love, Off Season, The Fountainhead, The Fault in Our Stars, The Outsiders, Tiny Beautiful Things, The Anatomy of Being, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Ana Karenina, The Odyssey, To Kill A Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby. (Just to name a few.)

My favorite TV show of all time is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I’m also a big fan of Dawson’s Creek, Prison Break, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The Office and Parenthood.

Anyways, this is my blog about the books that I read, my poetry, my real life experiences, and a little bit of my music taste. Enjoy.

There is only love.

I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer too! Sorry, I just had to share. I don’t meet that many people who love that show as much as I do, which is sad really.

What, no Firefly? One of Whedon’s best works.

    • Taylor Devost January 22, 2013 at 2:21 am #

Oh, I love ALL Whedon! Buffy is my favorite out of all though. Spoke to me more than all others!

All internal filters should be switched off. In this way we write from the heart.

Thanks for stopping by the blog. “The Ghost of Almost” was too fantastic not to share with the rest of the world. We live, we learn :-). Three cheers….

Congrats on being Freshly Pressed. Big fan of all things Whedon in our house, too. Cabin in the Woods was truly amazing.

Your “I have no filter” comment made me laugh! My friends always tell me the same thing on a daily basis. All I know is that it’s far better than a cork in your mouth : )

Wow Taylor! Your really talented at writing! I just started a blog and I only have one post so far, I was wondering would you take a look at it and tell me what you think, if you have some time of course. I’m just learning the ropes and I want to improve my writing so an outside opinion would really be appreciated. πŸ™‚

you sound pretty chill and calm, and i really love your writing, so yeah i would love to hear from you some time, or not i don’t own you..

Thanks for the like on my Blood Kiss post! I hope you decide to help back them — I know money can be tight, especially for a student, but every little bit helps!

Reading your ‘about’ page, it seems we have a lot in common. I’ll have to start reading your blog! I will eventually have more posts on mine, but I’ve been quite focused on the test for a Hawaii massage license. Hopefully now that it’s over, I’ll have a bit more free time…

Speaking of Buffy and laughing, have you ever heard of the Snark Squad? They’ve been doing recaps of all the Buffy and Angel episodes (they just finished seasons 4 and 1, respectively). They have plenty of Buffy love too, but are quite irreverent and clever about it. I’m totally addicted to their posts.

I will have to check out snark squad!!! thanks for letting me know and for reading my blog!!! πŸ™‚ xxx

Ah I used to love Buffy. Good memories. I am impressed that you read Anna Karenina, too. I am a voracious reader and writer and I still haven’t finished that book.

i am also Taurus . i read you blog nice write to me

  16. writingbolt October 10, 2013 at 4:32 am #

You are as much a Sagittarius as you are a Taurus by your description. Taurus makes you charitable, in favor of your parents, in love of canines/wolves
and connected to old-fashion things like snail mail. Sagittarius makes you speak your mind and give a crap about astrology (while many strong earth sign types think it’s suspicious or even evil).

    I like Jake’s sister Maggie:D

The most indecisive? Well, then we are in trouble:P

I’d pick wizard over vampire, personally. Though I could get into the regal garb some televised/movie vamps wear. But, the reality of the “sickness” would drive me insane.

You think too much of Joss:P

Buffy?? I might have been a better fan had the girls not sounded like airheads. The dialogue drove me batty alone. The plots were decent. I liked the mummy girl:D

    • Taylor Devost October 11, 2013 at 5:48 am #

Sagittarius you say? Hm. Haven’t heard that one before. My birthday is April 27th. Interesting though. I do love astrology!

Maggie is great. Crazy Heart was phenomenal.

Wizard is definitely on my list as well. I just have an absurd fascination with vampires.

No way! Joss is a creative genius… trust me. Explore more of his work.

And the language on Buffy is one of the things I love most. The deeper into the seasons, the more witty the banter becomes. It’s phenomenal… and funny!!!

      • writingbolt October 11, 2013 at 11:50 pm #

Well, Sagittarius wouldn’t be your birth/sun sign, but it could be any number of other components/planets in your birth chart.

I am not sure I have seen any bits of “Crazy Heart”, but I adored her in “Stranger Than Fiction”.

You and a billion other people mesmerized by the TV/movie fad versions.

Joss has potential and moments, but I’d say he does good and bad evenly. I think I have seen much of his work over the years. Just as I’ve seen plenty of Jerry Bruckheimer, David E. Kelly and Wes Craven. [I may have misspelled a name or two.]

Nooo! It was AWFUL. Er, some junk. Ew! Yucky! I think they were trying too hard to sound like teenagers. It annoyed the crap out of me. A bunch of Scooby-Doo babies without the Scooby snacks.

      • Taylor Devost October 13, 2013 at 7:59 pm #

Well, we will have to agree to disagree that’s for sure!! (About JOSS, a.k.a – TV GOD! πŸ˜‰ ) David E. Kelly is good. I was a big fan of Ally McBeal and have been enjoying his new show The Crazy Ones. But to each his own, I suppose!!!

      • writingbolt October 14, 2013 at 3:35 am #

I wouldn’t even put The Crazy Ones in the same league as Ally McBeal. Though, it’s hard for me to remember much about “Ally…”. I just remember a skinny person in the business of law making lots of duck faces, talking to herself, dancing with imaginary babies and chasing a guy who ended up dying near the end and becoming a ghost while the rest of the cast gabbed about “waddle” and “biscuits” and Barry White. Now, those were the crazy ones:P
